LaPierre: NRA, members will never surrender guns

HOUSTON (AP) -- The public face of the National Rifle Association is imploring members to never surrender their weapons in the wake of recent gun control efforts in Congress that he said will "destroy us and every ounce of our freedom."

Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre spoke in Houston during the organization's annual member meeting, which is part of the yearly convention.

LaPierre told several thousand people that the "political and media elites" have tried to use December's shooting at a Newtown, Conn., elementary school and other recent mass shootings "to blame us, to shame us, to compromise our freedom for their agenda."

He also implored lawmakers to instead enforce current federal gun laws and rebuild the nation's mental health system.

Frank, if you're concerned with the targets that people use, why don't you look into the targets that the DHS has recently purchased. They show things such as pregnant women, mothers with their children, and small children. Why don't you start to wonder why those are being used? Or just go on blindly trusting your government has your best interest in mind.

Frank, did you actually read the article? It's a female zombie mannequin Frank. (Of course some liberal nut case went off the handle because it had ties to the NRA) Frank have you ever watched a zombie movie? Enjoy it? I bet you did. They have female zombies getting blasted left and right, especially the number one tv series in the history of cable television. The Walking Dead, Frank. Ever see that show? Plenty of female zombies getting shot all to pieces by all types of people. I don't know if Rick, Carol, Lori or T-Dog were NRA members, but chances are Carl isn't, and he's shot and killed plenty of female zombies. Disgusting? Maybe to you, but it's NOT REAL Frank. At least not yet...

Well this has taken an ugly turn. “’Some’ NRA members…” shoot at inappropriate targets? “Some” politicians are crooked; “some” priests are pedophiles – shall we go on? Targets that bleed? Maybe we should get back to the problem of making sure the people of these United States have (no) say in their government, it is a problem. It is THE problem. There is no point in rehashing the old saws and slanders; it is time to wake up. This country was created upon the premise that people have the right to change their government when they see fit. Imagine, if you will, a country where it is a crime to disagree with the ruler in his vicinity; now open your eyes. I know it sounds like something out of the ugly chapters of a history book, but for reasons of National Security, it is now a law of OUR land. Are you SURE you want more and more, and more, restrictions on exactly which citizens should be armed? I can assure you, when they get to you, you’d better hope there is still someone left to speak up. We have plenty of laws against violence one another; simply enforcing them, as a policy of our Country, would be sufficient. Have you ever wondered just why farmers are so protective of their herds? I’ll give you a hint, look at the meat counter when you next go to the market.

Here's now some people in the NRA are spending their time: target-shooting at targets that look like women and appear to actually bleed. It's called the "Ex." Really, NRA? At least they were strongly encouraged to remove the target that resembled our President (and they did...). But this is disgusting. Absolutely inappropriate. Can't believe this organization has SO much power over our government! Copy and paste this link into your browser, or just Google NRA ex target, to read about it.

I don't keep my guns for hunting. I keep my guns for self defense and to defend myself from a tyrannical government. Stop watching MSNBC and read a history book and you will realize that the core of the Second Amendment is a safeguard against tyranny and has nothing to do with hunting.

What part of "Shall not be infringed" is so hard to understand? It has nothing to do with hunting, collecting, target shooting. This is to stop the government from disarming it's citizens bit by bit.Don't let history repeat it's self in America.

There's more to this bill than what's on the surface, which is probably why the NRA is so against it. With that said, I must add that Wayne LaPierre does NOT speak for this gun owner. Just another situation where both sides of the argument are wrong. The only people I have any faith in are the ones planted firmly in the middle.

This has nothing to do with Hunting Hunter. This has to do with stripping rights away piece by piece. Criminals aren't going to object to BG checks because CRIMINLAS DONT BUYS GUNS FROM LICENSED DEALERS. True, hunters don't need semi-autos, but then again we live in an age where people don't need to hunt at all. One question, what would you define as rapid fire? I have seen some cowboy action shooters pump off rounds with a lever gun pretty darn fast. Any gun but a single shot or double barrel can be shot rapidly.
