Fracking Veto Overridden After Lawmaker Hits Wrong Button

A North Carolina state representative says she voted mistakenly to override the governor's veto of a bill to allow the shale gas exploration called "fracking" but was told she couldn't change it because this would have altered the outcome.
Democratic Rep. Becky Carney of Charlotte says she pushed the green "yes" button at her desk Monday night to override Democratic Gov. Beverly Perdue's veto of the measure before realizing she wanted to vote red, or "no."
Her "yes" vote made the tally 72-47 -- just above the 60 percent required to override in the Republican-controlled Legislature. The chamber's rules prevent members from changing a vote if it affects the outcome.
Carney had voted earlier against fracking. She said Tuesday she feels terrible about her error but acknowledged the bill passed legally.

I hate for her to be in charge of something that has a red and green button for guilty or not guilty. Maybe she needs someone to guide her around, if shes so inattentive as that.

Guess she'll have to author a bill to stop the fracking or just shuffle her feet and say, "Aw Shucks", my mistake." Wanna guess what she'll do? A mistake like that indicates a lack of either attention or intelligence. She should be recalled!!!

I agree, Patriot! And I sure as heck wouldn't want to see what she does when she comes to a traffic light! Does she have to sit there and ponder over whether that GREEN light means "go" and the RED one means "stop"? Was this her first time voting? No. OBVIOUSLY she hadn't given this decision ANY THOUGHT in the first place, so when the time came to push the button, she wasn't ready. Was this some last-minute SNAP decision for her? Sounds like it. C'mon, lady. These decisions are IMPORTANT! Do your D#@% job! (I know grade school kids who get more prepared for a spelling test than she did for this crucial vote!) DISGUSTING.

Like you've never made a single mistake in your entire life.
