LAKE LOS ANGELES, Calif. (AP) -- Seventeen pit bulls were seized during a Los Angeles sheriff's bust of an elaborate Mojave Desert dog fighting training center that included treadmills and surgical equipment to treat injured animals.
Deputies and animal control officers on Wednesday swooped down on the remote Lake Los Angeles home that's 17 miles east of Palmdale and about 70 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.
They arrested 43-year-old Jesse Jimenez and his 41-year-old wife, Yvette Jimenez.
Sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker says in a news release that the couple has been booked for investigation of felony dog fighting and possession of cocaine. Their four children were taken into protective custody.

Pit bulls and possession of cocaine and felony dog fighting. They all seem to have something to do with each other, don’t they? I’m really glad we have pitbulls to facilitate those great industries. I read that pitbulls make up only 5% of the population in America, but they cover 70% of the attack and fatalities. At least there wasn’t a 2 month old baby getting mauled to death by a pitbull in this story. But that will probably be tomorrow, won’t it. Pitbull owners, wake up! Law makers, ban these monsters.
