Boy Scouts Propose Lifting Ban on Gay Members

Under pressure over its longstanding ban on gays, the Boys Scouts of America is proposing to lift the ban for youth members but continue to exclude gays as adult leaders.

The Scouts announced Friday that it would submit this proposal to the roughly 1,400 voting members of its National Council at a meeting in Texas the week of May 20.

Earlier, the BSA had indicated it might give local Scout units the option of admitting gays as both youth members and adult leaders, or continuing to exclude them

The BSA said Friday it changed course due in part to results of surveys sent out this year to members of the scouting community.

Gay-rights groups have demanded a complete lifting of the ban. Some churches and conservative groups want it maintained.

Yeah, don't change with the world. Force women to marry their rapists, cut thieves' hands off, buy and sell slaves, and beat your children!

Why don't homosexuals start their own version of scouting? Because it is easier to infiltrate and destroy an organization that has spent over 100 years developing strong young men with good morals, service attitudes, and the desire to be positive leaders in the community and world. Allowing homosexuals in Local units forces straight scouts to look elsewhere. They may have to start a male version of "The Heritage Girls". Straight scouts shouldn't have to change, they are not the ones with identity issues.

If you start losing your morale compass, the next thing that will happen is that they will lose their moral conviction and the BSA may allow convicted sexual predators or criminal serve as leaders. There is a reason why the found members of the BSA had that restrictions, they beleived it was immoral and when you start removing things that they felt was immoral you start removing the cornerstones of the BSA.
