Petitions for Secession Are Created After Election

In the days since the November 6 presidential election, there has been a surge in petitions submitted for states to secede from the United States of America. The White House has a section called We the People a page that allows citizens to create or sign petitions for causes they strongly support. There are now petitions representing more than 30 states, including Michigan, that have been submitted. Citizens of those states are suggesting that their state secede from the United States of America, and form their own government.
Petitions must reach at least 25,000 signatures gathered within a thirty day window, to be reviewed by the White House. If that number of signatures is reached, the White House reviews the petitions and issues a response.

A few years ago, there was a bunch of men who were what people consider the 1%. They did not like the government taxing them, taking their homes and property. Nor did they like the government declaring laws that were unfair. They feared for their lives and did most of this in secret at first. What they were doing was considered treason to some and crazy to others. Their ideas created several wars and internal disputes among themselves, but now we call those same men as our founding fathers and their craziness created our constitution.

It doesn't mean that the entire STATE wants to secede, it means that at least one person in each of those states has filed the petition, and each person within a state must have at least 25,000 valid, registered voters' signatures on their petition before the White House will even look at it. So if it's 13 states, it's at least 13 PEOPLE who have started all this nonsense. And if anyone thinks that a state seceding from the union will get them out of paying their state's fair share, I'd venture a guess and say No, it just means you're defaulting and suddenly the whole amount is due at once or No Succession for you. NEXT! What a bunch of malarky.

As of now, the petition asking that Michigan secede from the Union has 18,624 of the 25,000 signatures required by December 10, 2012 - and they just filed their petition on 11/10/2012!. This is, of course, whacky nonsense; but I would prefer that the rest of the country not think of the citizens of the Great State of Michigan as whack-jobs, so I have created a petition to : "AFFIRM the State of MICHIGAN as a proud member of these United States of America: PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD so that we can cancel out their efforts - and allow the government to work on issues that are more pressing than nonsense such as this. We need 25,000 signatures by DECEMBER 16, 2012. Until this petition has 150 signatures, it will only be available from the following URL and WILL NOT BE PUBLICLY VIEWABLE on the Open Petitions section of We the People. We have only 30 days to get 25,000 signatures in order for the petition to be reviewed by the White House. Thank you for passing this along! You can sign the petition to AFFIRM Michigan's statehood here:

@Robin: You call those that sign these petitions "toothless backwoods morons" then in the next breath say they are all "racist ignorant people." Do I really have to point out the problem with your "argument" or do you really not realize the drivel you are spewing? It reminds me of the statement "If there's one thing I can't stand, it's intolerance." It must just be that anyone that disagrees with you is ignorant, seeing as your post clearly indicates the superiority of your logic.

I love to watch you Republicans and Democrats slug it out. When will either party realize you are not right on every issue. I laugh when I see people that honestly believe the U.S. is going to grant secession to any state. A fun fact, The only states that have reached the 25,000 signatures needed for an official response were part of the original confederacy. In case we forgot, that didn't work well the first time. Then we have people that want to prosecute those for exercising their rights. SHAME ON YOU!!! you criticize them because you believe they think their view is the only right one. I have news for you, you are doing the same thing. You should be prosecuted for attempting to deny someone their rights to voice opposition to the government. In all honesty, by your logic, everyone who voted to remove POTUS from office should be prosecuted (over 59 million people by the way). We have a set of wonderful documents in this country that spell out the rights of the people. Finally, and even better yet, you have others comparing free nations with militant Islamic states with an argument hinging on universal health care, but includes comparison on ONLY religion, gay rights, taxes, gun control, and ethnic diversity. Isn't Google awesome?

I'm hearing that a lot of people are threatening to secede or, better yet, leave the country because of Obama's re-election and America's liberal turn. They're free to do so if they wish but there are a few things people should know before they pack their bags: Canada, Australia, New Zealand and ALL of Europe have Universal Healthcare (aka SOCIALIZED MEDICINE!); they ALL have HIGHER taxes than the US; Evolution is taught in ALL their schools; private gun ownership is banned or heavily restricted in each; gay couples have legal recognition in all, can marry in most and will marry soon in ALL; abortion is legal in ALL; ALL are racially and ethnically diverse and, in the case of Australia, they have a leader who is an unmarried atheist woman living in sin with her boyfriend. On the other hand Saudi Arabia and Iran have NO taxes, and very low taxes, respectively; NEITHER allows the teaching of evolution; BOTH require prayer in schools; NEITHER allows gay rights, especially not gay marriage; NEITHER allows abortion; women in both countries know their place and don't complain about it; everybody and his brother owns a gun; BOTH are theocracies run strictly by the laws of the old testament; and BOTH have populations with very few Black people and NO Mexicans. It's practically paradise! A Conservative Heaven on Earth! Unfortunately even Saudi Arabia and Iran have Socialized Medicine, but hey, NOBODY'S absolutely perfect!
