BARTLES, Ohio (AP) -- A spokesman for the Ohio fire marshal's office says five people have died in a blaze at a large house in far southern Ohio.
Spokesman Shane Cartmill says another 7 people were injured. A Lawrence County emergency dispatcher said earlier that six people were hospitalized from the fire reported around 2:15 a.m. Monday in Elizabeth Township, about 93 miles south of Columbus.
Cartmill says in an e-mail to The Associated Press that the identities and sexes of the victims have not been confirmed. He also says it's also too early to say how or where the fire started.
The dispatcher said the home had 12 bedrooms but he was unable to say if it was a rooming house or other multiple-family dwelling.
