Teacher Say Previous Job as Stripper Is Threat to Current Job

An English teacher in danger of losing her job over classroom performance says her previous gig as a stripper is the real reason she is being targeted by a west Michigan school board.

Susan Brennan and her lawyer claimed during Monday night's West Ottawa board meeting that the 20-year teacher is being singled out for working as a stripper four years ago when she took a leave of absence.

Tenure charges that include dishonesty in grading and failing to use proper lesson plans and grading methods were filed against Brennan on Thursday.

Brennan denied the allegations.

Board officials told The Grand Rapid Press that Brennan's employment as a stripper was not behind the allegations.

No hearing date was set.

I agree that she made a mistake, and the idea of her telling kids that it's an ok lifestyle scares me a lot. I think the biggest problem I have is that while she is human and sugject to mistakes, I wouldn't want my kids to even hear a whisper about her being a stripper and have to explain it to them.

She made a mistake, but real question is if she was telling students that it is ok to assume this lifestyle.

I would guess that taking a leave to go be a stripper, would effect your job. What normal thinking woman (who must be in her mid to late 30's or early 40's)takes a leave from a job to go be a stripper? (Like this is a really highly regarded profession!) I would not want this person any where near any of my kids, grandkids or anyone I know. Obviously she is not playing with a full deck. Think of it folks she cculd teach the kids how to use a stripper pole or how to do a bump and grind. You really want this person around anyones kid?

This is not a person I would want teaching my kids!!! I don't care if she was working her way through college or what ever. This person thought it was ok to be a stripper and now wants a free pass? I don't think so.

When the article mentions , "classroom Performance" i assumed she did her dance number in the class room.. I think that should be re-written.

Teacher must be hot. I wonder why she stop being a stripper? She had to make 5 to 10 time more money?

Not sure I am following this article correctly: She is currently 20 years old, has her degree and teaching certificate? Four years ago, she would have been 16 years old, working as a Stripper, during a leave of absense? What was the leave of absense from High School? I think some additional facts need to be added to this story to give some clarity. HMMMM!!!! Either she is a genius or a criminal...

Her private life is her private life. She took a leave of absence for gods sake! It is not like she graded the papers, changed and went to the strip club, then back the next day to teaching the little guys!

The only way ,anyone would know she was a stripper is someone who either watched or knew someone who watched her,is she a good teacher?? We all have something in our past we would like to leave behind. If she's doing the job ,!Leave her alone

If they are truly using the stripping 4 years ago against her I think that is wrong. If she dresses modestly and acts appropriately, then let it be. Is she 20 years old or been a teacher for 20 years...how can all of the sudden after 20 years of teaching she all of the sudden dont know how to plan...suspicious
