Another L&L Store Closes

The L&L grocery store in East Lansing's Carriage Hills shopping mall closed late Monday afternoon. The closing leaves just two of the chains former stores still open. One in Okemos, the other on Martin Luther King Blvd.

The entire, financially struggling company was forced into receivership late last year by its lender, Citizen's Bank.

The East Lansing closing comes as a surprise because it and the MLK store were supposedly sold to a Detroit based grocery company.

The Okemos store was sold to a separate company and continues to operate.

No one is saying why the East Lansing store closed.

Does anyone know WHY they close these stores without notifying their employees? I work for a retail chain that has closed dozens of stores in the past year and they always give the store at least a month's heads up and the staff stays on to ship any remaining merchandise to other stores. Seems nothing short of lousy the way L&L is doing this. Sure doesn't make me want to support them by shopping there.

What a shame. I'll really miss the people who worked there. They were the main reason I shopped there plus it was a pleasant environment compared to Meijer's or Krogers.
