Lansing is in the running for a major new investment by General Motors that would mean an investment of up to $190 million and 600 jobs at the the existing Grand River Assembly Plant.

As a first step towards securing the project, Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero has asked the Lansing City Council to approve tax incentives that would make it attractive for GM to make the investment here.

Bernero says "we are in direct competition with other regions around the country for this major investment and jobs it would bring to Lansing."

isnt this how we got into our current mess with tax government. They offer these huge incentives to thse companies that dont follow through. give the little guy a break so we can build businesses

Why doesnt the city and state reduce the tax burden on businesses so they can lure the small business that might have less than 10 employees. The economy does better when you have all of these smaller businesses fighting for each other.

I am currently a working seasonal GM employee at the Delta plant. The pay, working conditions, and union are the poorest I have ever seen. If this type of slave labor is what they are planning we are better without it. Thank you for letting me state my view.

I don't see this expansion creating "new" jobs what it will do is take existing jobs from one location and simply move them to lansing...
