Porsche And Volkswagen May "Integrate"

German automobile maker Porsche is indicating that it and Volkswagen may be moving toward an "integrated" company, but says each would retain their independence.

Following private meetings of the Piech and Porsche families, the controlling share holders of Porsche Automobil Holding SE, Porsche issued a statement in Stuttgart Wednesday saying that they are now arguing "for the creation of an integrated car manufacturing group."

Porsche is currently Volkswagen's largest shareholder with 51 percent and it has said it wants to raise that stake to 75 percent but that it probably wouldn't be possible this year given the state of the economy.

I wonder if this would be a good possibility between GM and Ford. Maybe it would be if it meant it would keep GM out of bankruptcy.
