Union Says American Axle Plans Move to Mexico

A union official says American Axle will close the largest plant in its Detroit manufacturing complex and move production to a plant in Mexico.

Bill Alford, president of UAW Local 235, says company officials told the union the plant will close this summer and result in the elimination of several hundred jobs.

Alford says that all of the manufacturing complex's about 1,000 union workers be laid off for about eight weeks. When the shutdown is over, only about 230 jobs will remain.

American Axle & Manufacturing Inc. spokeswoman Renee Rogers would not say whether the plant would be shuttered. But she did say the company has been in the process of idling and consolidating parts of the manufacturing complex.

The election is in 18 months. It took the democrats 2 years to make this country a real mess. We need true conservative leadership with no socialist programs.

To the Unions that bought and paid for BO. Are you satisfied??? BO entered office closing Club Gitmo, over turning the Bush policies, paying for stem cell reserch, snuggling up to Dictators and yes, spending your great great grandchildren's money. Some where he forgot about you. Your Community Organizer has no clue how to keep or produce an American job and there are no refunds, just ACORN NUTS.

If you don't like what the government is doing then protest, join the thousands that will be marching again soon. Quit fighting amongst yourselves. All workers have a stake in America. The elites want a welfare state so they control everything. Chavez and his cronies are leading the charge. The elites in both parties have fooled us long enough. Your money is not safe with them. They know where it is and they want it, they will promise you the moon all the time they are siphoning your savings. Get off your duffs and quit battling each other. Put down your signs and stand shoulder to shoulder the March is just beginning. The real change will appear in the form of true DEMOCRACY. democrats and republicans will no longer be relavent. The CITIZENS PARTY will be the peoples choice. No more special interest, no more lobbyists, just Americans for the common good. So make up your mind and stop brow beating each other or start voting for real change.

Moving any bussiness out of this country should be illegal.Look at the economy because so many bussiness have done so.What is wrong with the gov to allow this.Traders to the USA people.Cheap labor seekers, taking advanage of people who will work so cheaply because there gov has failed them.Bussiness owners making other countries rich,at least the government. While the usa gov sets by and make no laws to stop this.People here in the usa suffer.Seems like illegals would stop comming here and the gov would stop bringing people here to work when americans have not enough work.Probably no unions required in mexico.Thats what alot of bussiness want.

Well if they got rid of the unions then things would be better and alot of these companies would not move or close. It is the high wages and extras that all these union people have to have or they won't work. It is a load of crap and this is why all the jobs leave the U. S. cause of all the high wages and extras. So here will be several hundred more that is going to be out of work. At this rate there will be very few jobs left here in the U. S. for all the people here to try to survive on. The first thing that needs to be doen is get rid of the unions there are worthless.
