COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- A southwestern Michigan man has been killed in a tree-cutting accident in his backyard.
The Van Buren County sheriff's department says the 44-year-old Columbia Township man was cutting down several trees Saturday afternoon when a tree he'd just felled knocked a limb off another tree.
The department says the limb fell 25 to 30 feet and hit the man in the head.
Mlive.com (http://bit.ly/NaqjR8 ) says the man was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital in nearby Kalamazoo, where he died.
The sheriff's department says it's withholding the victim's name until more family members can be notified.
