JACKSON - A woman is forced at gunpoint into an apartment building, and another man is ordered into a car by the same thief.
Shortly before 5 o'clock Saturday morning, a woman called Jackson police saying she was robbed while walking along Wesley Street near Blackstone Street. She says that a man drove up in a car, got out ,and pulled out a gun. He told her to go into the nearby Carter Arms Apartments. She obeyed and once inside gave the thief her money.
Another man was at the apartments. The robber turned the gun on him, and demanded more money. The woman tells police that the man said he did not have any money, but could get some at an ATM. The gunman ordered the man to get into his car.
The woman who had been robbed called police. A Jackson officer relayed a description of the car and gunman. Police quickly spotted the car on 2nd Street. The driver was arrested, but neither the gun, nor the other man was in the car.
Jackson County Sheriff's deputies called the city police to say a man who had a similar story about being robbed was at their station. That man left before Jackson police arrived to take his statement. Police don't know what happened to him, after the woman saw him get into the accused man's car.
The man accused in the robberies is a 38-year-old Detroit man, who police say was out on parole. They say he's expected to be charged with armed robbery and a parole violation.
