SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (AP) -- A woman charged with drunken driving while a Michigan judge and his two daughters were in the car faces possible jail time.
The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News report Brenda Conway pleaded guilty Tuesday in a Southfield courtroom to a misdemeanor of operating while intoxicated with occupants younger than 16. She could get five days to a year in jail at her Dec. 12 sentencing.
Defense lawyer Jeffrey Abood says his client entered the plea to move on and shield the judge's children.
Macomb County Judge Circuit Court Richard Caretti wasn't charged. He denied that he was drunk or knew that his girlfriend may have been drunk that night.
Police say Conway was stopped in January in Franklin. They had been at a wedding reception earlier that night.
