HAMLIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Authorities say a woman and her baby are dead following a two-vehicle crash in western Michigan that left the baby's 5-year-old sibling in critical condition.
The Ludington Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/1axm2Cy ) the woman and baby died following the crash about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in Mason County's Hamlin Township, about 80 miles northwest of Grand Rapids, and the other child was flown to a Grand Rapids hospital.
The newspaper says the car the woman was driving went across a roadway and into a snowbank, where it stopped with its passenger side in the path of oncoming traffic. A pickup struck the car on the passenger side. Names of those involved weren't immediately released.
The sheriff's department says it's not known what led the car to go across the roadway.
