Jordyn Wieber's mother, Rita, returned to DeWitt Thursday, after being in London for the 2012 Olympics.

News 10 caught up with Rita Wieber at the Capital Region International Airport.

She thanked mid-Michigan for its support as well as donations made that helped the family travel to London to watch Jordyn compete.

Wieber says she saw Jordyn Wednesday in London and that it was strange to see her wearing a boot, as Jordyn hasn't worn a boot ever in her gymnastics career. Jordyn Wieber is dealing with a shin injury.

Rita Wieber says the trip was full of ups and downs, that it was a "ride" and that she's happy with Jordyn's performance.

The mother and daughter will reunite in New York City next week when Jorydn makes some appearances. Jordyn returns to mid-Michigan late next week.

Is this a real story? Can we have a report on this mornings agenda? What did we have for breakfest? Nice family in all, but really!?!?!?

I'm sure the woman was excited to get off the plane and be surrounded by media.

She didn't seem to mind all the media hype when her daughter was being promoted as "the greatest." Let her now deal with the truth.

Boy, Diane, get up on the wrong side of the bed on Friday morning???? What a rude and nasty commment to make - Jordyn, nor her mother, have anything to be ashamed of. Neither of them were the ones toting Jordyn as "the greatest", and this young teenage girl had A LOT of pressure on her over in London and ended up not in the all-around individuals because of a stupid rule and not because she performed poorly, but still managed to help her team win a gold medal. What have you done of any world-wide recognition, you bitter, old haggette?????

Yeah i know right. It is nice to support people and be there to maybe greet them .. but let them have some privacy as well. Take your pictures .. say welcome home then leave it at that. She looks exhausted.

She did not look like she was disappointed by being interviewed to me.
