LANSING -- Sen. Gretchen Whitmer of East Lansing will be the top-ranked Democrat in the Michigan Senate next year.
Whitmer was elected the Senate's minority leader by Democratic colleagues on Thursday.
Republicans will hold a 26-12 edge in the Senate next year. But Whitmer said Democrats can remain relevant and work well with Republicans, including incoming governor Rick Snyder.

Why do we need a minority leader anyways? Everybody is supposed to be equal in this country, right? What's with the special treatment toward minorities then? Bunch of B.S. if you ask me.

An elected democrat in office is becoming a rare breed. It might become rarer in two years when we start disolving some of the socialist programs that have been set up and people are back to work.
