Two viruses are going around this week.

In Okemos, Dr. Dennis Perry at Meridian Primary Care, a partner of McLaren-Greater Lansing, is treating norovirus.

Symptoms come on suddenly. They include: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramping, chills, and headache.

Children may have a low-grade fever.

Symptoms generally last a day or two.

To treat norovirus, drink lots of fluids to prevent dehydration. Dr. Perry recommends Pedialyte for kids and Gatorade for adults.

Be sure to get plenty of rest.

Dr. Perry is also treating adenovirus, which causes viral upper respiratory infections and conjunctivitis, or pink eye.

Symptoms can include: runny nose; itchy, watery red eyes; and cough.

Since it's a viral infection, it doesn't require antibiotics. Just rest and drink fluids.

If your eye is creating a lot of discharge, you should see a doctor for treatment.
