LIVONIA, Mich. (AP) -- Visitation has been scheduled for a Livonia police officer killed in a shootout with a burglary suspect.
Livonia police say visitation for Officer Larry Nehasil is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and noon-8 p.m. Thursday at Harry J. Will Funeral Home in Livonia.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday at Our lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Plymouth.
Nehasil's family says in a statement that the 48-year-old "died doing the job he loved, serving the city in which he grew up."
A vigil was held Tuesday night in Highland Township. A tribute is planned Wednesday in Livonia.
Nehasil was a 20-year veteran of the suburban Detroit police agency. He was killed Monday night in Walled Lake.
His survivors include wife Linda, sons Adam and Aaron and mother Monica Nehasil.
