UNION TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Officials say vandals struck an ice arena near Mount Pleasant, causing an estimated $80,000 to $90,000 in damage.
The Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant reports the vandalism at ICE Arena in Isabella County's Union Township was discovered early Sunday and includes smashed windows, broken vending machines and holes in drywall. Fire extinguishers were emptied onto floors and the ice rink. Cleanup was expected to take a week or more.
Arena director Rob Flynn says the damage left him "sick to my stomach." Skaters returned to the ice this week as crews work to repair the damage.
The Isabella County sheriff's department is investigating and seeking tips.
