The University of Michigan is anxiously awaiting the launch of the first satellite completely built by its students to be sent into space.
The six-and-a-half-pound satellite is about the size of a loaf of bread. But when it launches into space, it will represent a historic moment for the Ann Arbor school.
Assistant aerospace engineering professor James Cutler tells the Detroit Free Press he gets goose bumps when he thinks about Friday evening's launch in Alaska.
The Radio Aurora Explorer satellite is to share a ride on a rocket with six other satellites carrying 16 experiments for the military, NASA and universities.
Michigan's satellite will conduct experiments on space weather.
