Two Michigan State police lieutenants are charged with racketeering in the theft of property and money seized during drug investigations.

Attorney General Bill Schuette announced charges Wednesday against 48-year-old Luke Davis and 42-year-old Emmanuel Riopelle that include conducting a criminal enterprise, embezzlement and misconduct in office.

Lawrence Dusseau of Monroe County also is charged with racketeering, embezzlement and tax violations. Arraignments were expected later Wednesday.

Schuette and State Police Director Kriste Kibbey Etue say the operation was run out of the narcotics investigation office in Monroe.

A suspect said in 2008 that property was stolen from his home.

Authorities found the stolen items, drugs, jewelry and other items in Davis's home.

Davis and Riopelle were arraigned Wednesday in Monroe. The Associated Press couldn't immediately learn if they have lawyers.

The top dogs are just mad that they wasn't able to get their greedy hand on the cash and property. They send out the troopers to do the catching of the thieves then they the top dogs get the cash. How eles do they say sometimes that this law enforcement was able to purchase new equipment for this or that police department. The State Troopers put their life on the line all the time and they never get the praise they deserve.

Give them a suspended sentence and $100 fine. They would not be safe in prison. In these tough economic times everyone need to earn a little extra cash!

I can remember when State Police Troopers commanded my respect. Those times changed about 15 years ago and continue to degrade year after year. i can only imagine that this must be the tip of the iceburg.
