A tree will be planted in memory of a seven-year-old Lansing girl killed last summer.
The tree for Amaia Edmond will be planted by students and staff at Lansing's Wexford Montessori Magnet School.
Edmond was a student there until she was killed last July when her home was broken into by intruders.
LaVar Burton, Amaia's stepfather, admitted in court that he accidentally fired the fatal shot, killing the girl.
Tonight's tree planting ceremony starts at 5:30p.m. at the school, and the tree will be planted in the playground garden.
