TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) -- A former administrator with the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District has been sentenced to at least 40 years in prison for sexually assaulting a young girl.
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that Michael R. Porter was sentenced Friday by 13th Circuit Judge Thomas G. Power to 40 to 70 years behind bars.
Porter was recently convicted by a jury of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, possessing child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime.
The 47-year-old Traverse City man resigned in January as chief technology officer for the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District. He had testified that he didn't engage in sexual contact with the girl. He says nude images on his work computer weren't for sexual purposes.
