Train Derails in Shiawassee County, Spills Acid

35 people in Shiawassee County's Vernon Township should be back in their homes by 2 p.m.
They were evacuated yesterday after a Canadian National freight train headed eastbound derailed, spilling hydrochloric acid and forcing evacuations.
11 cars derailed a little after 6 p.m. on Thursday. One of the cars started leaking its contents, hydrochloric acid.
The train tracks were damaged by the acid.
They are currently being repaired; Canadian National hopes to move the train by 4 p.m.
