DeWitt Township -- Two males and a female are in the Clinton County jail after being accused of running a mobile meth lab.
Around 4 a.m. on Wednesday morning, a DeWitt city police officer pulled over a silver Oldsmobile Alero at a Speedway gas station near the intersection of Old-27 and Herbison Road. The officer noticed that the back of car appeared to be smoking. Upon further investigation, police uncovered prescription pills, a couple of firearms, and meth-amphetamines, along with all the components needed to manufacture meth. A canine unit was brought in to detect the presence of drugs and bomb materials. The state police bomb squad identified those materials and used a robot to collect all the evidence. Michigan State Police later declared the scene safe and not a hazard. DeWitt Township, DeWitt city police, Clinton County, Bath Township along with MSP aided in the investigation.
Five people total were in the car at the time of the traffic stop. Lt. Joseph Spagnuolo of the DeWitt city police department says four of the five suspects had outstanding warrants. Three were arrested, one was taken to the hospital and one was released. The suspects are expected to be arraigned on Thursday afternoon in the Clinton County Court.
