LANSING - About 85,000 individuals or families in Michigan are waiting for a computer problem to be fixed in order to get an update to their food assistance bridge cards. A problem involving a batch file transfer with the computers at the state's Department of Technology, Management and Budget has left the state unable to reload approximately 5% of the bridge cards. The problem appeared this morning. The DTMB has been working to correct it through the day. As of 5pm, the problem has not been resolved. The DTMB does not yet have an estimate on when the problem will be resolved. This is not affecting all bridge cards, just certain cards associated with the batch file. People who have money remaining on the affected cards can still use that money. They expect to send information along to stores to help them explain the issue.
