BLACKMAN TOWNSHIP - 2 men are arrested and accused of shooting out several car windows with a BB gun and stealing items inside. Police suspect they are the same men who have been doing this to dozens of cars in the Jackson area over the past couple weeks.

Blackman-Leoni Public Safety officers arrested a 23-year-old man and a 25-year-old man early Tuesday morning near the Westwood Mall. Police say a witnesses called police shortly after midnight, after spotting the men shooting out car windows on Varden Drive. Police say when they arrived the men ran away, but they were located a short time later. Police found two cars on Varden Drive, and two cars in the mall parking lot had their windows shot out, and items inside stolen. Police say they recovered a BB gun during the course of the arrest.

Investigators suspect the men may also be responsible for over 30 similar car window shootings that took place in the city of Jackson last week. Blackman-Leoni Public Safety Officers are working with Jackson City Police on the investigation. The men are expected to be charged with car larceny and malicious destruction of property Wednesday.

I live in a quiet area of Jackson and had my car window shot out between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The sherrif who took the report said they would step up patrols. I didn't think they would be able to catch who did this; and whether or not they are the same people I appreciate all the excellent police work to bringing this to close.
