"Super Drunk" Law In Effect Today


Michigan's new drunk driving law goes into effect today. Now police will have to determine if someone is simply "drunk" or "super drunk".

Starting now, there are stricter penalties for drivers who have a BAC of .17 or higher.

Penalties Can Include:

-180 Days In Jail (Increased From 93 Days)
-$200-$700 Fine (Increased From $100-$500)
-One Year License Suspension (Increased From 6 Months)
-Up To 360 Community Service
-Cost Of Prosecution
-6 Points On Driving Record
-Cost Of Prosecution
-Mandatory Alcohol Treatment Program
-Immobilization Not Exceeding 180 Days Allowed
