STOCKBRIDGE - A woman is dead and a man wounded by gunfire in Stockbridge Monday afternoon.
The Ingham County Sheriff's Office tells News 10 Stockbridge police received a call from the Department of Human Services, concerned about one of its female employees who did not show up for work.
When police arrived at the home on the 4300 block of N. Main Street, just north of Stockbridge High School, they found a 57-year-old woman shot and killed inside, along with a 61-year-old man with critical head injuries.
The man was rushed to Sparrow Hospital.
Police have not identified the pair or their relationship. Neighbors say they are husband and wife.
The state crime lab expects to be on scene late into the night collecting evidence. A blasted out window is visible from the street.
