A State Police investigator tells wilx.com the suspicious letter sent to Governor Rick Snyder contained no harmful substances and was not threatening. A worker at the Constituent Services office in the Romney Building reported skin irritation after opening the envelope Thursday afternoon. He washed his hands and did not receive medical treatment. The envelope included a white granular substance. Investigators won't identify that substance.
The letter was turned over to the State Police, which is investigating the case with the FBI and U.S. Postal Service. The envelope had not return address and investigators won't say where it was postmarked. The letter itself was mostly incoherent ramblings. Governor Snyder was not in Lansing at the time, he was on Mackinac Island for a policy conference.
