LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- The Michigan Senate has adopted a resolution designating Sept. 11-17 Michigan Patriot Week.
The measure approved unanimously Wednesday is intended to recognize the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks as well as the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787.
The resolution says U.S. "citizens must take time to honor the First Principles, founders, documents and symbols of their history."
Lawmakers urge residents, communities, schools and nonprofit organizations to recognize the week and participate in some way.
