People on the state sex offender registry may have to start paying more to keep it running. A bill headed to Governor Snyder would charge them a $50 annual fee. Right now they pay a one-time $50 fee when they're added to the registry. Senator Rick Jones sponsored the bill. He says it's unfair for law-abiding taxpayers to cover the cost when most offenders are on it for 25 years to life. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion.
