A crowded emergency room won't be a problem for one local hospital too much longer.
Sparrow broke ground on a new emergency department at the Sparrow Clinton Hospital in St. Johns Tuesday morning.
The new E.R. will have eight private rooms instead of just three, as well as upgraded equipment and technology.
It also means a shorter wait for patients.
The current facility gets about 14,000 patients a year. It was built to handle just 8,000.
Construction will start next month and be ready for patients next June.
