ROYAL OAK, Mich. (AP) -- Singer James Taylor performs as grassroots supporters of President Barack Obama traverse Michigan to register new voters ahead of the Nov. 6 general election.

Taylor appeared at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the group's headquarters on Main Street in Royal Oak, north of Detroit.

The performance was free, but space was limited.

Taylor performed at last week's Democratic National Convention in North Carolina.

Obama supporters also are enlisting new volunteers heading into the final weeks of the 2012 presidential campaign.

Um Do the taxpayers (that would be us) have to pay for James Taylor to perform? I really think we have paid for enough of our President's entertainment.

What a shame. It's sad how such a brilliant and enduring artist can at the same time be so ignorant as to support Obama.

I agree with Kelly. Must be these folks are liking the idea of a Marxist/dictatorship (factist) government. No respponsibility of taking care of onesself, nor - anything really to take care of! Equality for all, we will all be obedient government slaves living in poverty. Yes, what an unecessary shame.
