BELDING, Mich. (AP) -- Authorities say they plan to step up efforts to search for a 10-year-old West Michigan boy who disappeared after leaving home to go fishing.
Police say Devon Morrison of Belding was last seen Saturday as he headed for the nearby Flat River with a fishing pole. Authorities searched the river Sunday with boats and helicopters. The Ionia County sheriff's department says searchers are to renew efforts Monday.
Belding police Chief Dale Nelson says he considers the disappearance suspicious and is treating it as possible crime. The FBI and state police are aiding the search.
WOOD-TV reports authorities searched the boy's home Sunday. Authorities didn't say what they sought.
Shoes were found in the river about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, and Nelson says family members are "pretty sure" they belong to Devon.
