Dansville school administrators ordered a lockdown at the districts middle school Tuesday when a student showed up with a gun.
Dansville superintendent Amy Hodgson tells WILX.com, the student put the gun in his locker. It was immediately reported to the school's office by two other students.
The school was locked down, the gun was retrieved and the Ingham County Sheriff's Department was called. Within 30 minutes, the situation was under control and the lockdown was ended.
Sheriff's Sgt. Steve Sopsay says the boy was taken into custody and is being held, but won't give any further information. Sgt. Sopsay also says deputies took the gun.
Superintendent Hodgson says the lockdown as a precaution and the incident cause little disruption.
