DETROIT (AP) -- Hip-hop legend Joseph "Reverend Run" Simmons is coming to Detroit to discuss the need for early diabetes detection.
The member of the famed group Run DMC is an ambassador for the "Ask.Screen.Know." campaign, which is dedicated to increasing awareness about the benefits of diabetes screening.
Simmons is to talk about the issue during an appearance Sunday at Greater Grace Temple.
In a statement, Simmons says he knows "firsthand the impact that the disease can have," having watched his father manage deal with diabetes.
