UPDATE: Reports Of Shots Fired Leads To Serious Rollover Accident

Police responded to reports of gun fire early Sunday morning on Mount Hope road in Lansing. When police arrived a black SUV fled the scene. Police later found the SUV in a rollover accident on Eaton Road.

Sgt. Traci Ruiz said four teens stole the SUV Friday. Sunday morning the teens had been shooting a pellet gun at an Lansing State Journal paper delivery man when Lansing Police were called about the incident. The shots were fired just after 5 a.m.

The man that called police followed the teens during his call to 911 to give the dispatch information on where the teens were going. The teens drove through several neighborhoods before crashing the SUV near Eaton and Greenlawn. The car is now totaled and the owner has been notified.

Lansing Police caught the teens. Initially two were sent to the hospital with injuries. One was released to his parents due to the injuries. The remaining three were taken into custody. All four teens went on a "crime spree" of retail fraud after they stole the vehicle.

Lansing Police suspect the same teens are responsible for several shots fired after midnight near Aurelius and Mt. Hope, although police have not yet confirmed that.

Chris exactlaty how did LPD try to kill you and your family? Second of all I know that they routinely use there cell phones to communicate things to each other that they do not want to put over the radio.

I tell you the truth LPD tried to Kill me and my family. But I have no way to prove it. All I can do is keep watching them and reporting it to you.

The police need to get off of their cell phones and watch over the city. For every 3 out of 5 police I see driving they are on their cell phones instead of doing their job listening to the CB or just looking out the window for crime. Virg Bernero is all done. Balancing the budget isn't all that as important taking cops off the payroll to the safety of his citizens. PS Tell the principal at Lewton, Terry Bernero to replace the American Flag at her school also...! What a disgrace!!!

Reopen the Southern Michigan Correctional Facility on Cooper Road in Jackson County. Fill it up with these unruly teenagers. Problem not totally solved, but it's a start.

This is unacceptable, where are the parents why are they not controlling their children. What on earth makes these children think it is okay to shoot at somebody. That person was simply out trying to earn a living. These people are scum!

Let's hope their parents are upstanding members of society, and look to correct this behavior in their children, but I have my doubts...

Juvenile justice millage up for renewal on August 7th. These "kids" are too young for the adult system but are definately a danger to society. Hopefully that millage will pass or else these "kids" will be back terrorizing the neighborhoods. Vote Vote Vote!

Vote it down and put these animals in prison. One of the reasons they act this way is because there are no real consequences to their actions.

Josh, Voting the millage down will not end up getting them thrown in prison, because they are juveniles. They will have less supervision and commit more crimes. You are partially correct in that they act the way they do is because there are no real consequences for their actions, but that is because the county has only so much money to put toward supervising them and/or locking them up. You need to support the passing of the millage so the funds are there to deal with them.

We as citizens need to stop blaming the dang mayor and ask ask where the parents to these dang kids is at!!!!!!!!!!! The Mayor is not my daddy, your daddy, these kids daddy, or any persons daddy. People decide to steal, crash cars, do drugs, and sell drugs all on there own. There is nothing that the Mayor can do to stop these people as they are walking out the door! As a community we need to come together and report stuff that we see going on to the police and not complain about it on these blogs. You see someone that looks like they are not doing something right, well then call the cops so that they know. They are not mind readers. They dont know when someone is going to commit a crime. I mean come on people, we cant keep pointing fingers and going on and on about it. Do something about it.

I'm not a fan of Bernero, but you are absolutely right. Even blaming him because of cuts to law enforcement is a cop-out. The only difference extra police officers would have made in this case is they might have discovered the rolled-over SUV sooner.

I may have saw these young men, if they were in a black trailblazer, i definitely saw them. They wanted to race me! Mind you i drive a pt cruiser, lol and down waverly no less. But i shared some knowledge of how DUMB that would be and they sped off!I thought to myself now that was odd! I said a quick prayer for them, and moved on. But even that lets you know what type of generation is coming up behind us.You just gotta stay aware and alert of whats around you and do your best to take care of you and yours these days!
