Plain and simple, aviation safety inspector Jim Pratt has had enough.

"It's ridiculous. We're all out of work right now," said Pratt. "If people are flying around on the airlines, they should know there's not FAA inspectors checking things like they normally do."

It's all because of the government shutdown and that's what Pratt told Congressman Mike Rogers' staffer Penny McNamara at the Brighton City Hall, Monday morning. It was the first of five opportunities voters had to bring their concerns to the forefront.

"It's the Republican shutdown that's really hurting everybody and everybody's really, really upset. We want to go back to work," said Pratt, after leaving his meeting with McNamara.

As a person on disability, Deborah Williamson of Howell is worried about losing her Social Security and Medicare, if the stalemate continues past the October 17 deadline to raise the debt ceiling.

A former supporter of both Rogers and President Obama, she's placing the blame on the Democrats' unwillingness to compromise on Obamacare.

"When I voted for both these guys, I thought they were the best person," she said. "I'm sort of rethinking the 'President' thing."

That's what former mayor of Novi, Gilbert Henderson, thinks the fight is all about...votes. He says the future health of the U.S. economy is in jeopardy because politicians on both sides don't have their priorities straight.

"We're seeing the extreme of those priorities now and that is getting ready for re-election and doing what the party wants," he said.

With four more days to meet with voters on the agenda, this month, Rogers' office can expect to hear much more. The mobile office hours will visit Lawrence's Westside Deli in Mason on October 14, before wrapping up at Brunch House in Lansing on October 28.
