Red Cross Opens Warming Centers

After freezing rain knocked out power to tens of thousands in Mid-Michigan the Red Cross has set up warming shelters to help folks beat the cold.

Warming Centers are located at:

DeWitt Memorial Building
206 West Washington Street in DeWitt

Maple Rapids Community Center
Union & Franklin Streets in Maple Rapids

Bath Township Hall

Also Mt. Hope Church on Creyts Road in Lansing has opened its doors.

The Red Cross said pets are not allowed at the warming centers. If you need assistance for your pet, the Ingham County Animal Control can help keep your pets warm. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
