GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) -- Records show a 36-year-old West Michigan man had been drinking before falling to his death from a winding staircase at a Grand Rapids nightclub.
MLive.com reports Saturday that Kevin O'Brien's death certificate lists acute ethanol intoxication as a contributing factor in his death last month at The B.O.B. club.
O'Brien of Wyoming, southwest of Grand Rapids, fell four stories May 12 and died the next day. Head trauma was listed as the cause of death.
Officials have not yet released O'Brien's blood alcohol level at the time of his death.
He was the third patron since 2009 to die in a fall from the club's staircase. Club owners closed the staircase following O'Brien's death.
