Professor William Penn will be assigned to teach two small courses next semester in creative writing.

UPDATE: MSU has released a statement on William Penn. "Professor William Penn will be assigned to teach two small courses next semester in creative writing. In the meantime, as part of MSU's commitment to create a learning environment characterized by mutual respect and civility, a faculty committee created by Academic Governance continues to review the responsibilities of faculty members and the impact of social media on teaching and learning. Their report is due in early 2014."

MSU creative writing professor William Penn will resume his teaching duties next semester.
His duties were reassigned after video surfaced in September showing him belittling the GOP, saying "They're cheap. They don't want to pay taxes because they've already raped this country and gotten everything out of it they possibly could."
It was during a course called "Identity: Literature, Comedy. Perception."
Students had mixed feelings on the dialogue at the time.
Some called it a hostile learning environment, while others said he was challenging students to stand up for what they believe in.
MSU says Penn has had a review with the provost during the interim; no details have been released.
