In East Lansing at Bailey Park, an annual concert called Pumpstock brought nine bands to two different stages. Five nationally-known Michigan acts graced the main stage, including the Jerry Sprague Band, and four other local bands played at a second stage throughout the day.
If you were there, chances are you didn't see any famous faces, but you may have witnessed the brains behind some songs you love.
Pumpstock organizer Dudley "Smitty" Smith said the concert series features "people who write songs that are then recorded by popular artists . . ."
Kids got in free to the music festival, which featured vendors like the MSU Dairy Store and What Up Dog. In addition to the music, jugglers and face painters also provided entertainment.
