Emergent BioSolutions opened its doors to the public Friday as part of National Manufacturing Day.
The day was created as a way to clarify common misconceptions about the industry. For example, not every manufacturing company has an assembly line.
Michigan State University students were part of the group that got a chance to see what the company does every day.
"We want to show some of the great work and new technology that we're innovating here, and that's what it's about," says Adam Havey, president of the company's bio-defense division.
Later this month, the Capital Area Manufacturing Council will host a tour for MSU engineering students at companies like Demmer Corp., Cameron Tools, and Peckham industries.
