UPDATE FROM BWL: As of 3:48 P.M., power was restored to all customers still affected by the outage. All customers are now restored to power. Approximately 800 customers were restored within 1 minute of the outage starting. We believe the outage was due to a mechanical failure. The mechanical failure was most likely caused by a tree limb making contact with the wires.

LANSING - About 1,100 Board of Water and Light customers are without electricity in south Lansing Tuesday afternoon. BWL is trying to locate the cause of the power outage that occurred around 2 o'clock. They do not yet have an estimate on when the power will be restored. The outage affects an area between MLK Blvd and Cedar St. and Northrup St. and I-96.

And what exactly was the excuse for the tree limb falling on the line? No storm, no winds. I thought we pay for tree trimming companies to trim the trees properly around the lines. Apparently someone isn't doing their job. Yet we continue to pay higher energy bills.
