PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) -- Authorities in Detroit's northern suburbs say they've arrested a business owner in the fatal shooting of a man who was panhandling outside his business.
Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe says the shooting happened Sunday night in Pontiac.
He says 33-year-old Nils Vikstrom was panhandling Sunday afternoon in nearby Auburn Hills and was doing so several hours later at a shopping plaza in Pontiac.
McCabe says Vikstrom approached a 35-year-old business owner and they had a confrontation. The undersheriff says the Troy resident then shot the panhandler.
McCabe says deputies arrested the business owner and took him to the county jail. He says his department hopes to present the case to prosecutors Tuesday.
The undersheriff says the suspect has a concealed weapons permit and has no criminal history.
