Jackson police are investigating the death of an infant.

An 18-month old girl was not breathing when ambulances arrived at her home on Whitney Street last night.

The baby was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police are calling the death suspicious. An autopsy will be conducted to determine what made the infant stop breathing.

Officers spent much of the night searching the girl's home.
