GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (AP) -- Authorities have searched a small West Michigan island after receiving an anonymous tip in the disappearance of a gas station clerk.
Norton Shores Police Chief Dan Shaw tells MLive.com that police found nothing Tuesday on Harbor Island in Grand Haven that would help them locate 25-year-old Jessica Heeringa.
Heeringa disappeared April 26 before she was set to close an Exxon Mobil gas station in Norton Shores, near Muskegon. The station didn't have a security camera and there were no signs of a struggle or robbery.
Herringa's purse and other personal belongings were found in the station. The cash register was untouched.
Police have released a description of a silver minivan and a man seen in the area.
Shaw says about 2,000 tips have been received in the case.
