"From 1898 until 1914, when local prohibition was passed...Lansing Brewing Company went out of business. It was gone forever. 99 years later, we're bringing it back," Said Owner of BarFly Mark Sellers.

He wants to bring a little history, and a lot of business to downtown Lansing.

"It's not a done deal," said Executive Director of Downtown Lansing Mindy Biladeau. She says this could help with tourism by bringing Lansing up to par with other cities.

"Many cities with downtowns our size do have their own breweries. Traverse City, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids."

Meaning more people in the stadium district, and that's not all: "I decided to open a second location in East Lansing which is where I went to school," continued Sellers.

Seller wants to put another bar on the bottom floor of The Residences.

A second HopCat restaurant. The first award-winning location in Grand Rapids has 48 beers on tap. This one would have 100: "It will be a much wider selection than any other place. Even in the whole state of Michigan."

Police have no comment on whether two new restaurant/bars would be good or bad fro crime, but say there is a potential more people may drink before getting behind the wheel.

East Lansing's Downtown Development Authority also wouldn't say whether this bar would be good for the city, telling us they still need to take a look at the plans, which could bring the city more than added traffic.

"We'll be hiring a lot of people. About 50 people at the Lansing Brewing Company and about 50 people at HopCat in East Lansing."

If everything is approved, work could start as early as next summer.
